Flagship Case Study · Highway Takeover

Own The
Exit.

Uncle Sam's Fireworks × AOTC

Uncle Sam's needed the biggest retail weekend of the year to create sales — not another fixed billboard that depended on traffic behaving exactly as planned. AOTC positioned the message at the one decision point that mattered: Exit 68B, the direct route to the store with zero additional turns. Then a storm closed the highway — and funneled every southbound driver straight into the placement.

Hammond, IN · I-94 / Exit 68B July 3–4, 2026 Seasonal Retail

The Strategy

Own the exit. Shorten the decision. Capture the sale.

AOTC did not chase generic highway exposure. The placement was chosen because Exit 68B delivered drivers toward Uncle Sam's without forcing another turn — the customer saw the offer at the exact moment the store became the easiest next move.

Prime Decision Point

The truck sat beside the I-94 stream with Exit 68B in the same field of view. The message didn't just create awareness — it gave drivers an immediate direction.

High-Intent Traffic

Beach trips, family visits, and fireworks demand converged on the busiest buying window of the year. Every car carried multiple potential customers.

Media That Adapts

Unlike a fixed board, AOTC could hold the exact sightline where traffic actually moved. When road conditions changed, the campaign's value increased.

The Turning Point

The storm closed the highway. AOTC was already at the exit.

I-94 was closed from Exit 68B onward for southbound traffic. The highway's normal flow collapsed at the exact exit AOTC had selected — and instead of losing the audience, the activation inherited it. Every rerouted driver was forced into the same corridor as the truck. Uncle Sam's was no longer one message among many; it was the most relevant retail option at the point of disruption.

Traditional Billboard

Fixed location, fixed assumption. Competitors paid for exposure based on a traffic pattern that no longer existed — their media couldn't follow the detour.

VS

AOTC Mobile Placement

Live location, real traffic. AOTC was positioned where drivers were actually routed — adapting to the moment, staying category-exclusive, and converting disruption into retail advantage.
